It eludes me how such a terrible and misogynistic series can be so popular among women who really should know better. I mean, where have you BEEN for the past 40 years?!

Even if you weren't affected by any of the social changes of the feminist movement, there have been many, MANY more heartthrobs than that fool Edward in books and media.

Though, I will admit, in the 90s there as a big hullaballoo about a deadly boring book, about a woman in Iowa lusting after a photographer. Because there's nothing else to do in Iowa. It was called "The Bridges of Madison County." So this is not the first time bad chicklit has found and audience among the over-30 set.

Anyway, why Ganondorf? Well, aside from the bad-guy allure, he has an actual brain in his head, and knows how to fight. (I was going to say he doesn't watch girls sleep, but then I remembered that scene in WW. Oops. -1 point, Ganny.)

But, Ganondorf doesn't matter as far as this is concerned. It could be anybody, virtually anybody, and still be a better choice than a sparkly undead rapist stalker.
