It doesn't matter how much SPF 50 sunblock I slather on...I still get burned. At least it's minor.

Other than that, it was an awesome trip down to the shore. Lying on the beach...cruising the boardwalk...lying on the beach...

My friend and I were sitting on the water's edge at something like 7pm (it was still light but the lifeguards had gone in), and were rolling our eyes at three guys who had decided to go surfing in the icy water.

Me: They're gonna drown doing that.
Anie: Hey, here comes the beach patrol.
Me: To tell them off? Oh wait...here comes an ambulance...
Anie: And a police car...
Me: And...a fire truck?

So we watched the beach rescue pound their rowboat into the surf and rescue the three guys. After a short check by the paramedics, they were able to walk away. In the meantime, a big crowd and a pod of dolphins came to investigate the ruckus.

Here's my question...what good is a FIRE TRUCK on a water rescue?

The Independence Day fireworks got washed out...Mother Nature decided to provide some of her own. They commenced the next night, just before a real pea-soup ship-wrecker fog rolled in.
